English as a Additional Language (EAL)

Regina Christian School welcomes international students of various cultures into its school community.  We delight in celebrating the unique cultural diversity that each student brings to our school. Our staff is dedicated to supporting international students academically, emotionally, and spiritually.  We try our best to ensure that the unique needs of international students are met within an accepting and caring environment.  It is our desire that the experiences international students have in Canada and while attending Regina Christian School are meaningful and rewarding.

The goal of Regina Christian School’s English as an Additional Language (EAL) program is to equip students with English skills needed to be successful academically and socially.  It is our vision that all English language learners, of various proficiency levels, will be equipped with skills that will provide personal growth, academic development, and preparation for post-secondary studies or working opportunities.  Regina Christian School is committed to providing a quality Christ-centered academic education.

All international students are assessed to determine their English proficiency.  Based on a student’s proficiency assessment, the student is placed within EAL or mainstream classes.  Placement of students is based on the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education’s Common Framework of Reference (CFR).

Even though the majority of EAL students are International Students, EAL is also available to students who have recently immigrated to Canada and in need additional support in English.
