Elementary Choir

Elementary Choir is an additional extracurricular activity available to students in grades 2 – 6. Singing in choir gives students the opportunity to develop their vocal skills, participation, social skills, enhances memory, and encourages creativity and expression. The choir is given many opportunities to perform in various places such as the Rotary Carol Festival, Regina Philharmonic Concert, Regina Music Festival, Regina Symphony Orchestra, Barbershop Concerts, Light the Lights Event, Seniors homes, Wascana Rehabilitation Center, School Assembles and much more.

High School Choir

Regina Christian School has two high school choirs and both choirs are offered as an elective with a credit.  The Concert Choir is open to anyone in grades 9 through 12.  This choir is a developing choir which focuses on some basic techniques for singing – breathing, pitch, enunciation and some basic musical theory (reading notes, dynamics, etc.).  The Concert Choir performs on a limited basis in a supportive setting.

Select Choir is an honours choir that is only open to those selected by the choir director.  Select Choir has a more challenging repertoire and performs regularly throughout the school year.  Both choirs rehearse and perform outside the regular school day.  The two choirs go on a five-day choir tour during the school year.

High School Broadway-Style Musical

Regina Christian School does an annual Broadway show in May. This is an extra-curricular event which is open to anyone in the high school. There are usually around 80 high school students involved. We do a four night run of performances with a live orchestra. This combines all of the areas of the arts – dance, music, drama, and visual art.  Students may choose to act, sing or dance in the production or play in the orchestra.  This is a great opportunity for those who wish to further their musical experiences.

RCS has produced many high-quality productions in the past such as Fiddler on the RoofAnne of Green Gables, Mary Poppins, Annie and many others.  The staff and students involved strive to produce a quality show that the kids are happy to invite their friends and family to.

High school band

In cooperation with Regina Public Schools, we are blessed to be able to provide Instrumental Band as an extra-curricular course offering for students in Grades 9 through 12. Students receive the dedicated instruction of a band teacher at the RCS campus for one period per school day cycle. As part of the program, students participate in a number of full band concerts as well as festivals, clinics, and smaller events at RCS. This is offered once a week in the morning before Period 1.
